Sentry Screen Recorder ("we", "our", or "the app") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use our Android application.

• Screen recordings are stored locally on your device.
• We do not upload your recordings to our servers.
• Your recordings never contain ads or watermarks.
• The free version may show in-app ads (banner and occasional interstitial). Premium removes all ads from the app.
• Premium purchases are processed through Google Play and RevenueCat.

Information we collect

Information you provide

The app does not require an account. You configure recording settings (resolution, frame rate, countdown, themes, and similar preferences) which are stored locally on your device using Android DataStore.

Permissions

The app may request the following permissions:

• Screen capture (MediaProjection): Required to record your screen. Granted per recording session through the Android system dialog.
• Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS): Used to show a recording-in-progress notification with a stop action on Android 13+.
• Foreground service: Required by Android to continue recording while you use other apps.

Recordings and files

Video recordings are saved to your device's storage in the Movies/SentryScreenRecorder/ folder. Recording metadata (title, duration, file size, resolution, FPS) is stored in a local database on your device. We do not access, transmit, or store your recordings on external servers. Recorded videos are never altered to insert ads or watermarks.

Advertising (free tier)

If you use the free version of the app, we show ads through the Yandex Advertising Network (Yandex Mobile Ads SDK). Ads may appear as a banner in the app and as an occasional full-screen interstitial after you stop a recording. Ads are not inserted into your video files.

To deliver and measure ads, Yandex and its partners may collect or process identifiers and device information such as the Android advertising ID, IP address, device and app identifiers, coarse location derived from IP, and interaction data (for example, ad views and clicks). This processing is governed by Yandex's privacy policy and applicable advertising partners' policies.

Premium users: If you purchase Premium, in-app ads are disabled. We do not show banner or interstitial ads to Premium users.

You can reset or limit ad tracking in your Android settings (for example, reset advertising ID or opt out of ads personalization where available).

Purchase information

If you purchase Premium, payment is handled by Google Play. We use RevenueCat to manage purchase entitlements. RevenueCat may receive an anonymous app user identifier and purchase status. See RevenueCat's privacy policy for details on their data practices. Premium is a one-time purchase (not a recurring subscription) unless Google Play product configuration states otherwise.

How we use information

Information is used solely to:

• Provide screen recording functionality
• Display and manage your local recordings library
• Remember your app preferences
• Verify Premium purchase status
• Show ads on the free tier and measure ad performance

Data sharing

We do not sell your personal information. Data may be shared only in these cases:

• Google Play / RevenueCat: For processing and validating in-app purchases.
• Yandex Advertising Network and ad partners: On the free tier, for serving and measuring ads (which may include the advertising ID and related device data described above).
• When you share a recording: If you use the Android share sheet, the recipient or app you choose receives the video file directly from your device.
• Legal requirements: If required by applicable law or valid legal process.

Data retention

Recordings remain on your device until you delete them. App settings persist until you clear app data or uninstall the app. Purchase and entitlement status is managed through Google Play and RevenueCat according to their retention policies. Ad-related data retained by Yandex or its partners is governed by their respective policies.

Children's privacy

Sentry Screen Recorder is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

Security

Recordings are stored using Android's standard file system protections. We recommend using device lock screen security to protect your files.

Your choices

• Delete recordings at any time from within the app.
• Uninstall the app to remove all local app data.
• Purchase Premium to remove in-app ads.
• Manage purchases and restore purchases through Google Play.
• Adjust advertising ID / ads personalization in Android system settings.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect any changes. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
